Que Bueno

Your Austin Music Minute host was recently given a copy of the latest LP from Buenos Diaz, Gringo Novelas, to given a listen to. At the heart of the matter, the thing about songwriters like Nick Diaz is this: He crosses genres like a madman, like an artist driven by a genuine passion for many kinds of music and cannot help but embrace them all. And such is the path of an artist continuing to expand his horizons along the way. If you simply must have some kind of description to refer to, Diaz happily provides “urbanized new wave Texican,” though it barely scratches the surface.

You get to see Buenos Diaz tomorrow night at The Continental Club Gallery, just upstairs above the Club at 1315 S. Congress Ave. The Blue Moon Jazz Quartet and the mighty Rosie Flores kick things off at 8:30 p.m., followed by Diaz at 10:30 p.m.

Honey, treat yo’self. Very recommended.
