It’s a beautiful spot.
Walk into Sagebrush, 5500 S. Congress Ave., and you’re struck by the spaciousness of the dance floor, the vaulted ceilings, the pop of red curtains at the stage, and proprietor Denis O’Donnell‘s personal touch – the starlit desert landscape, with mountains in the silhouette.
As with any venue facing the impact of COVID-19, remaining open is a struggle, if you’re lucky enough to be open at all. Proceeding with caution, the Sagebrush crew transitioned from livestream sets hosted by O’Donnell to socially-distanced performances with limited capacity. An extremely reasonable cover charge at the door each night directly supports the bands. Pearlsnap Playboys and Ruby Dice have your Monday nights covered; Ben Ballinger brings it every Thursday; and Danny B. Harvey has a killer happy hour set on Saturdays. This week includes The Golden Roses (Tuesday), Doug Strahan and The Good Neighbors (Thursday), and Rattlesnake Milk (Friday).
Safety protocol is in order. Don’t forget your mask. Find details about all upcoming performances on the latest Sagebrush schedule at their website. And please show the bands and the venue all the love and support you can.
