Screaming For the Black Stage

Let the festivities commence. The 2014 Fun Fun Fun Fest is now underway at Auditorium Shores, with loads of fantastic afterparty Fun Fun Fun Nites shows at various music venues. And, while you’ve seen quite a few recommendations made by the Austin Music Minute, your humble AMM host readily admits to having a severe weakness for the fierce and fearsome full-volume, head-banging revelry that awaits at the Black Stage. Here is some suggested badassery to check out. Don’t abandon the earplugs, mate:

TodayRadkey, Pallbearer, Amon Amarth, Death From Above 1979, aaaaannnnd…here we go…Judas Priest (whom you heard on today’s AMM; I wanted to use the somewhat obscure “Evening Star” from Hell Bent for Leather, but Matt Reilly kindly requested “Breaking the Law” from British Steel, which is irresistible, so…)

TomorrowCommunion, Iceage, The Black Lips, and be sure to join everyone and their entire damn families for King Diamond. No exaggeration.

Sunday – Here’s what you do. Get there early to start the day with some bloody marys and Crooked Bangs at 11:55 a.m.. Then stay for the entire line up, which includes Pissed Jeans, Hot Water Music, Rocket From the Crypt, and wrappin’ up with The Murder City Devils.

There you go. Have fun, enjoy the rest of the fest, and always bet on the Black Stage.
