Soul Eyes

There was no denying the talent of Nashville-based artist Kandace Springs. Anyone who worked with her immediately saw the natural fluidity, the grace and style with which she carried her art. Springs always knew that music was her life. but at the beginning of her career, she wasn’t quite sure which direction her music should take. Even though her self-titled debut EP was more on the contemporary R&B/hip-hop end of the spectrum, she still faced some uncertainty. What was the missing element?

Leave it to a musical icon like Prince – you know, Prince, no big deal (!!!) – to give her the best advice. He simply told her to do what came naturally. And Grammy-winning producer Larry Klein also encouraged her to do the same as she worked on her full-length release, Soul Eyes. “‘Go in and play what you feel,'” Springs recalls Klein saying. “That ultimately led to the best outcome; he captured this record perfectly.” You feel it in her smoky, sultry tones as she channels a myriad of jazz influences and the fire of soul.

This is one not to miss. See Kandace Springs tonight at 3Ten at ACL Live, 310 W. Willie Nelson Blvd. Doors open at 7 p.m. Get there early, because you won’t want to miss any second of this stellar performance. Recommended.
