SixSquare recognized the need. After seeing many music artists displaced due to COVID-19, losing musical residencies and major shows, Austin’s Black Cultural District stepped up to initiate SixSquare Sound Check, a virtual showcase curated to elevate and highlight Black music artists in Austin, and provide paid gigs during the pandemic.
This weekend, Sound Check shines the spotlight on Jackie Venson, Blackillac, and singer Shelbi Alexandria, all filmed at Antone’s Nightclub. The stream includes art installations and a panel discussion on the current state of artists. The show kicks off at 7 p.m. (Central) tomorrow, Saturday April 10, at Luck Stream.
