Such Fine Fellows

The September KUTX Artist of the Month Duncan Fellows comes in strong with the infectious pop/rock melodic delights of Both Sides of the Ceiling, released at the beginning of the month. Most impressive, not only because of the awesome tracks, but because of the unsavory list of conditions that said album was recorded in: The admittedly first-world problem of a broken AC in the middle of miserable Lone Star State heat waves delivered on amplified levels; and – hello? – rats in the house, non-ideal crawly roommates scuttling about the place that no doubt drive one to horrible distraction. How in the hell did Both Sides of the Ceiling come out sounding so cheerful and upbeat? Great musicians, great songs, all Duncan Fellows.

If you fancy, head out to Spider House Ballroom, 2906 Fruth St., to catch Duncan Fellows playing the new stuff tonight. It’s a pretty rad bill featuring The Oysters, Big Coat, and those high-tailing hoodlums Magic Rockers of Texas, always ready to NOT behave. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. So totally recommended.
