Who: Really, on any given day, The ABGB is a splendid place for a hangout, but the added pleasure this weekend comes from a show starring songwriter A. Sinclair and psyched-up surf/acid rock renegades Surly Gates.
What: Sinclair, whom you know as the former front man of Frank Smith, continues to build upon his impressive track record with his solo project. His EP Pretty Girls moves into new musical territory without leaving his rock/pop roots influences, nor his strong vocal work, behind. Surly Gates takes inspiration from ’60s garage rock as much as it does psychedelia, riding a wave of vocal harmonies and lo-fi, smoky rock.
When: Sinclair and Surly Gates share a bill tonight – and will rock your socks off.
Where: The ABGB, 1305 W. Oltorf St.
Why: All this rock ‘n’ roll? C’mon. It’s good for you. The music starts at 9 p.m. So recommended it hurts, buddy.
