Summer Heat

Things might slow down for you during the summer, but the music goes on, baby. And outstanding bands like PR Newman hit the hot pavement running with a bunch of shows set up for the high-temp months. Front man Spencer Garland and his crew begin a month-long  Monday night residency tonight at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 901 Red River. The first residency show includes an impressive line-up featuring SMiiLE, Holiday Music, and Being Dead. (your Austin Music Minute host adores Cody & Juli in all their bloody glory, thank you). Get there at 9 p.m.

And another heads-up for you: PR Newman will open for one of the hottest bands around – Black Pumas, at their Thursday night show at Antone’s, 305 E. 5th St. It’s a win-win bill for what promises to be an excellent first night of two Antone’s shows in a row for the BP’s (Thursday was recently added because Friday night quickly sold out, so…well, no surprise there).

Can you dig it? Of course. So recommended.
