Swing It

Who: I first had the pleasure of seeing the mad skills of Jonathan Doyle through his performances with the White Ghost Shivers. This is one very talented musician. The Austin-based clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and arranger spent quite a bit of time in New Orleans and Chicago, but Doyle made the move here in 2004 to focus a bit more on roots and acoustic styles.

What: Doyle’s longtime friend and fellow musician, guitarist Joel Paterson, is visiting from Chicago, and luckily for us, they’ll be teaming up for the Jonathan Doyle Swingtet residency performance this evening. Doyle and Paterson have jammed lots of times before, so it’s guaranteed to be a fun and fantastic set.

When: All happening tonight, starting at 9:30 p.m. and lasting until midnight.

Where: Probably one of the sweetest Eastside hangs, The Sahara Lounge, 1413 Webberville Rd.

Why: Excellent stuff, and a thrill to see so many great musicians playing together. See for yourself. Recommended for your Monday night.
