That Snake-Like Walk

Much has been written about Deerhunter front man Bradford Cox‘s live performances – basically, his energy levels tapped up to an intensely heightened flow moving erratically between bewildering and obnoxious. But the Austin Music Minute embraces the sort of madness that takes the live music experience to another dimension, and Deerhunter’s shimmer-pop feast Fading Frontier provides the perfect soundtrack to pair with all the action. It may well be their poppiest album to date – consider this the less skull-splitting, not very garage-rock follow up to Monomania, no doubt – but it’s layered with these multiple sonic complexities that keep the experimental edge in their sound.

Deerhunter is back in Austin for a show tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the outside stage. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. And the party continues after the show with sets on the inside stage by KNIFIGHT and Roses. Very recommended. Move with that sssssnake-like walk.
