The Deepest Lake

Who: It’s the music that sets your soul on fire. LA-based band Dengue Fever is riding high on their fifth album, The Deepest Lake, another sensational and sensual blend of psych, garage rock and Cambodian pop. Vocalist Chhom Nimol easily glides between singing in Khmer and English, in a mad flow of contagious grooves. Bassist Senon Williams explains it perfectly; “Before, it was partly Cambodian and partly indie rock. Now it’s 100 percent both.”

What: Dengue Fever’s current tour includes a stop here in ATX. This is one dance party you won’t want to miss.

When and where: See them tonight at Red 7, 611 E. 7th St., on the inside stage. Hard Proof Afrobeat kicks off the show with a major BOOM. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Why: Sexy music for your Saturday night. Recommended. Don’t leave your dancing shoes at home.
