Talk about summoning a specific vibe; Mackay and his band The Sensors set the tone with their recording location – within the very house that 13th Floor Elevators lived, wrote music, and “were arrested while tripping on mescaline.” “Royalty Free” is Mackay’s sardonic ode to the push and pull of bringing one’s music to the masses, along with the conflicted feelings that come with the process.
