Some say music is in the blood. But a steady inspo of power vibes from A Tribe Called Quest and Jay Z may also come into play. Anastasia Hera discovered her love of rap at a young age, so much so that she eagerly accepted the challenge her father gave her: Find the movement, rhythm and form to deliver Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s famous “I Have A Dream” speech as rap. It’s daunting to even imagine, but Hera was ready as soon as a mic was available.
The Austin-based rap artist, songwriter, vocalist and entrepreneur is celebrating 10 years of following her dream to create music, including her most recent EP This Is Anastasia, with a big show at the end of this week. Join Anastasia Hera and The Heroes this Saturday night, Nov. 27, at Geraldine’s, 605 Davis St., inside Hotel Van Zandt. The music starts at 10 p.m.
