Three On the Four-Twenty

On one hand, you could say it’s just another day at The White Horse. There’s always fun stuff going on at the honky-tonk hang-out at 500 Comal St., everything from cook-outs and contests in the daytime to some of the best live music shows at night. And, if you’re lucky…you’ll actually see a white horse waiting outside in the parking lot. Only in Austin.

On the other hand, the fine folks at The White Horse know that really, it’s all just one big non-stop party. Simple as that. Today would count as one of those days, by the way. Here’s the scoop: You can saunter by The White Horse this afternoon, starting at 3 p.m., to get some shopping done at their Eastside flea market, which is always fun. And you’ll find two-step lessons starting at 6 p.m., followed by that wicked “ain’t-yer-mama’s-honky-tonk” outfit Josh Lightnin’ & The Lonestar Drifters getting the crowds worked up during happy hour at 7 p.m.

Then, sometime around 10 p.m., you best hide the kids. The wild animals are about to be unleashed.

Oh, but I always talk about my friends that way (chuckle, chuckle, snort). You’re in for a treat with the ultimate, all-out blast of face-melting furious folk and rock tonight with everybody’s favorite hard FOLK-core hoodlums East Cameron Folkcore, rowdy rock trio Not In the Face!, and the ever-smokin’/swaggerin’ Gilded Splinters. Triple bill? More like triple threat.

And you know you love it. Recommended.
