Tigers Time

Keeled Scales label co-founder Tony Presley doesn’t have any one set way of describing the music he creates as Real Live Tigers. Really, it’s more of a collection of rather specific moments, or images, captured in memory: “Letters read aloud over AM radio, quiet guitar through motel room walls, loud electric guitar in summer basements, gravel parking lots in the rain, train sounds…” Give a listen to Real Live Tigers’ 2016 release, Denatured, and you’ll experience such beauty coupled with a refined, subtle restraint. There is an emotional intensity brewing beneath the surface.

A new album is in the works from this Austin Music Minute favorite, scheduled for release next year, and a few short tours coming up between now and October. But you’ll have the opportunity to see Real Live Tigers tonight at Beerland, 711 1/2 Red River, sharing the bill with Olympia, WA-based bands Pools and The Washboard Abs, along with Molybden and Jesse Wooten (Black Balsam). Wooten starts out the night at 8:45 p.m. Recommended.
