Vamos A Bailar

The Austin Music Minute has always emphasized one very important element of the Pachanga Latino Music Festival: It has a lot to do with musical discovery, covering a broad spectrum of genres – not only traditional folk styles from around the world, but also electronic, rock, pop, indie and avant-garde – by various Latino music artists. You don’t just get one kind of Latin music experience. You have the opportunity to hear many different kinds of music, including stuff you may not even have known was out there.

The 7th annual Pachanga Fest starts today at noon at Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia, in East Austin, featuring performances by Julieta Venegas, El Gran Silencio, DMK, La Vida Boheme, Chicha Libre (featured on today’s AMM), and Making Movies, to name a few. And the fun doesn’t end at the end of the fest! Don’t forget the cool after-party shows tonight at The Volstead Lounge, Hotel Vegas and Gypsy Lounge on E. 6th St., featuring DJ Orion, Gina Chavez, AJ Davila y Terror Amor, Little Brave, Migrant Kids and more. The nighttime shows kick off at 9 p.m.
