Hotel Vegas and The Volstead have a loaded SXSW schedule, as would be expected. It’s one of the hot spots in the heart of East Austin to catch some of the best showcases. This year kicks off with a SXSW Interactive blowout of a party tomorrow, followed by the SX Soundcheck Saturday extravaganza, the Spring Break Showdown fairly bursting with all manner of artists, and let us not forget the always tremendous Levitation party on Thursday, to name but a few. The whole Vegas-Volstead compound turns into one overflowing party, impossible to get into if you wait too late.
But South-By is not the only time the area is hopping. Countless other badass shows have graced the Hotel Vegas stage, the Volstead room and the patio area for a grand total of six years. So, before the chaos of South-By officially commences. Vegas and Volstead are pulling out some big guns for their 6-Year Anniversary celebration tonight. A Giant Dog (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute)and Flesh Lights take over the patio stage; AMM heartthrobs Big Bill, The Reputations and Mean Jolene invade the Hotel Vegas stage; and it’s DJs galore inside the Volstead with ulovei, Orión, King Louie, Manolo Black, Manny, and Boozwa at the controls. Doors open at early at 5 p.m., and the bands will most likely start after nightfall.
Happy Anniversary, Vegas and Volstead. Here’s to many more debaucherous adventures – er, awesome shows to come. Yeah. That’s it.
