Nori is, quite simply, a collection of big talent. No exaggeration. These are powerhouse musicians who have each made an impact on the local scene through various projects: Akina Adderley on vocals, trumpeter Erik Telford, guitarist Nick Litterski, Aaron Allen on upright bass, and drummer Andy Beaudoin. So, having them perform together combines the best of multiple genres – or, as they describe it, bending genres, connecting them in refreshing ways. The diversity of jazz, folk, and the aesthetics of world music is all beautifully crafted together on their debut release, World Anew.
Make plans to check out Nori at their album release show this Saturday night at Stay Gold, 1910 E. Cesar Chavez. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the Jonathan Doyle Swingtet starts the evening out perfectly. Recommended.
