Yeast by Sweet Beast 2017

It’s difficult to stay focused and not be overwhelmed by the whirlwind of activity to jump into during SXSW. But today, the Austin Music Minute puts the spotlight on a spectacular showcase off the beaten path.

It’s day two of Yeast By Sweet Beast Fest 2017, an annual three-day, DIY interactive experimental music festival highlighting independent artists at the forefront of unique sound creation and instrumentation. This year, poet, musician, filmmaker, aerialist and all-around badass Anne Heller of Aurora Plastics Company is the proud presenter of this impressive collection of risk-takers, an eclectic mix of local and touring artists shattering any expectations one may have in aural and visual artistic experiences.

Tonight’s show at The Sidewinder, 715 Red River, is a feast for the ears and eyes, including performances by Future Blondes, Book of Shadows, Suspirians (featured on today’s AMM), Weird Omen (France), the Kraken Quartet, and many more. Doors open at 5 p.m., with GOATOFALLTEXAS starting the showcase at 5:30 p.m. on the outside stage, and Waco Girls playing at 5:45 p.m. on the inside stage. This one comes very recommended.
