TEDDYTHELEGACY was born in 1995 and grew up as an only child on the Eastside of Austin. At an early age, he realized music was therapy for him. He started officially making music in 2011 and in early 2014 he founded his record label ALUMNIÌI Co. It was around this time that Teddy began performing unofficially at SXSW. Then in 2016, he dropped a project called Headed II the South and two years later he put out the album Nice Guys Always Finish Last. He started gaining more recognition after the release of his album the Posterchild in 2019, which featured the hit “Red Lights.”
In 2020, after the release of Posterchild, Teddy was selected to be an official showcase artist of SXSW for the first time in his career, but due to the pandemic; the festival was canceled. Teddy continued to pursue his music career and make music while quarantining. He even made his debut at Kutx’s 3rd annual Summer Jam on September 17th, 2020. Teddy performed two of his new singles “Belize” and “Risky.” The song “Risky,” touches on many topics including police brutality and how it has affected him and his family, gentrification in Austin, and his sentiments regarding the pandemic.
TEDDYTHELEGACY released his seventh project on December 31st of 2020 which he named Seven. The Austin native continues to evolve as an artist, expand his brand and heal others through his music; all while embracing his East Austin roots in the process. – Miles Bloxson, KUTX Host
