Carrie Rodriguez Laboratario – 8pm

One Wednesday a month, singer-songwriter/violinist Carrie Rodriguez and Grammy award winning multi-instrumentalist/producer Michael Ramos are inviting you into their own musical laboratorio. With the help of Grammy Award winning bassist/producer Roscoe Beck they’ll be pushing the boundaries of Latin music, creating culturally blended music for a culturally blended world, and asking a different special guest each month to add to the experiment.

Carrie Rodriguez is a classically trained violinist, singer and songwriter. Over the last decade, she has established an impressive roster of touring, recording and co-writing affiliations with noted musicians including John Prine, Chip Taylor, Lucinda Williams, Los Lobos, guitarist Bill Frisell and others. Her most recent release, Lola, was hailed by NPR’s Felix Contreras as “the perfect bicultural album”. It was chosen as one of NPR’s top 50 albums as well as one of Rolling Stone’s top 40 Country Albums of 2016.

Michael Ramos is a producer/composer/musician who has toured and recorded with a vast array of artists including John Mellencanp, The Rembrandts, Lila Downs, Paul Simon, Patty Grif?n, Los lonely Boys, The BoDeans, Pat Green, and many others, as well as his own project, Charanga Cakewalk. He is also the owner of Brown Recluse Studio where he produces projects for others as well as his own music and lm and TV scoring projects. He was awarded a Latin Grammy in 2016 for his work with Lila Downs. At this point in his career Michael says,“I am always looking for my next challenge. I look for the things that keep my passion for music fresh and exciting”.

Roscoe Beck is an Austin, Texas based musician, and record producer. He has recorded and performed with artists as diverse as Leonard Cohen, Joe Ely, Jimmy Witherspoon, Jennifer Warnes, and The Dixie Chicks (onstage during the infamous 2003 tour documented in the film Shut Up and Sing). After earning a reputation from Austin to L.A. as bassist with artists Eric Johnson, Robben Ford and others, Beck made his debut as a producer in 1986 on Jennifer Warnes’ highly acclaimed collection of Leonard Cohen songs, “Famous Blue Raincoat.” Soon after, he co-produced Leonard Cohen’s breakthrough album, “I’m Your Man,” and work with Cohen as his musical director would continue through Leonard’s final concert in December 2013. Most recently, Roscoe wrapped up production on Jennifer Warnes’ first new record in fifteen years, due for release in September 2017.

Saturday, July 1st

Curtis McMurtry w/ Little Brave & Ali Holder – 8.30pm

Curtis McMurtry, Little Brave and Ali Holder are three unique songwriters that showcase all sides of the craft. Life as a musician doesn’t always allow you to hear the songs and people you love the most. To remedy this, these Austin musicians decided to come together for a night of their own design.
