Austin Camarata Festival 5.20.19

The Austin Camerata Music Festival presents its third season, which runs from May 18-24. Austin Camerata emphasizes innovative ways of performing classical music, focusing on collaborations with other artistic mediums including dance and storytelling.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:

Camerata at the Capitol, Texas State Capitol Rotunda, Saturday, May 18 at 12 pm – Austin Camerata returns to the State Capitol to delight audiences with flamenco dance, a string orchestra, and the opportunity to “conduct us!” at this free performance!

Children’s Concert at Cepeda Branch of Austin Public Library, Thursday, May 23 at 10:15 am – Austin Camerata brings music and storytelling to life for elementary school audiences. Stories include “Ferdinand the Bull” and “I know a shy fellow who swallowed a cello.” The performance is free to attend and open to all ages.

Rhapsodic at ImagineArt Gallery, Friday, May 24 at 7:30 pm – This variety show explores vibrant folk cultures and their wide-ranging influence on classical music. The performance includes Spanish music for cello and flamenco dance, a story for klezmer duo and narrator, and chamber music inspired by Turkish and Romani traditions. The program concludes with a performance by the festival string orchestra. Ticket prices include admission and complimentary food and drink from area retailers and restaurants.
