Austin’s Los Coast first found itself as a live band, holding down a months-long, talked-about residency at C-Boy’s in 2015. Samsara, the group’s debut, has been a long time coming, but it takes Los Coast’s fiery live sets and turns them up a notch. Singer Trey Privott is a voracious music fan, and you can hear that in the band’s melding of soul, rock, funk, and more. You can also hear that appetite in Privott’s guest DJ set. This week on My KUTX, he plays an hour of inspirational singers, running from Whitney and Sam Smith to heroes like Aretha Franklin and Dr. John.
