My KUTX: Risky Motion

Risky Motion is the September Artist of the Month. Photo by Julia Riehs/KUTX

When recording his debut album under the name Risky Motion, Austin’s David Roseboom downloaded all of Prince’s music, cut off his internet access, and got to work. Wide Open is obviously purple-hued as a result, and it’s also jolted by Roseboom’s love of electronic music and prog rock. All those ingredients sound unwieldy written out, but he stitches them all together with a lot of joy.

This week on My KUTX, Roseboom’s joy is obvious and contagious: he was so excited to be our guest DJ, he stood and danced the entire time we recorded his set. And that might be the best way to enjoy this episode, so get on your feet and listen to My KUTX on Saturday, September 15th at 6 p.m. or anytime at the bottom of the page.
