My KUTX: Ruby & The Reckless

Ruby & The Reckless is the KUTX Artist of the Month for August

Austin’s Ruby Jane Smith cemented her status as a fiddle prodigy at an early age when, at eleven, she became the youngest fiddler to ever play the Grand Ole Opry. She’s been a steady presence in Americana and country circles, playing with Willie Nelson and Dale Watson, but she’s also collaborated with Lady Gaga and covered the experimental folk-rock of Wilco.

Smith’s new band, Ruby & The Reckless, takes these disparate sides and puts them all together on In My Head, out September 23. This week on My KUTX, Smith and bassist Austin Simmons (with song picks thrown in by keyboardist Sam Powell, drummer Chris Copeland, and guitarist Miggy Milla) offer up an eclectic guest DJ mix. Tune in Saturday, August 20 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime at the bottom of the page.
