Utopia Fest has always done things a little bit differently than most music festivals. For starters, its located in tiny Utopia, Texas, 2 1/2 hours southwest of Austin and right in the middle of the gorgeous Hill Country. Attendance is capped at 2000, camping is encouraged, and there’s no musical overlap, all of which makes this a great destination for the music and outdoors lover.
This year’s fest goes down September 22-24, and it features everything from Dr. John and Antibalas to Brownout and Matthew Logan Vasquez. Austin folk/pop outfit the Deer also plays, and this week on My KUTX, the Deer’s Grace Park plays an hour of handpicked, Utopian music.
