A good cover reveals a good song. If the original is well-written and has a solid foundation, you can cut it in an entirely new fashion or a different genre and a good song will always stand up. It’s like the songwriter left a blueprint and all it takes is a good contractor to embellish the original plans to make something just as impressive. That’s why we’re dedicating an entire weekend to cover songs! Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 25 with Rick McNulty’s Left of the Dial all the way through 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 27. On Saturday, January 26 Rick McNulty digs up his favorite soul and R&B cover songs for an extra special edition of Uptown Saturday Night at 7 p.m.! And to keep the covers theme rolling, The Breaks hosts Fresh and Confucius Jones will turn the spotlight on some of the greatest samples in hip-hop history Saturday night 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
