The Artisan String Quartet has been playing around Austin under different names and with a different roster for more than 20 years now. Its present configuration was forged in 2009, and has performed all around central Texas. In 2010, the quartet recorded the score for a documentary on legendary opera singer Barbara Conrad Smith, and last year they played their Carnegie Hall debut. The quartet recently partnered up with the Austin Symphony Orchestra to create the brand new Artisan Series, a chamber music series filled with some of the greatest string quartet and chamber music works.
The Artisan String Quartet has a concert (part of their Artisan Series) on Thursday at Riverbend Church. Tomorrow, they’ll be in Studio 1a with host John Aielli, playing live on KUTX.
