Holiday Sing-Along and Tree Lighting at the Capitol

Join John Aielli, host of “Eklektikos,” Saturday, Dec. 6, for the KUT/KUTX Holiday Sing-Along and Tree Lighting at the Capitol, followed by theDowntown Austin Alliance Congress Ave. Stroll.

This free family-friendly event begins at 6 p.m. on the south steps of the Capitol with the crowd singing songs of the season. Rusty on the lyrics? We’ll be passing out free commemorative songbooks.

At 7 p.m. we count down to the lighting of the Capitol tree, then we’ll stroll down Congress Ave. where shops, restaurants, galleries and museums will be open late to celebrate. The stroll will feature special activities, such as classic holiday cartoons, photos with Santa, live music, a special holiday Farmers’ Market with Sustainable Food Center, and much more.

Support members of our community by bringing non-perishable food or cash donations to the Capitol Christmas tree for the Capital Area Food Bank.

The Holiday Sing-Along & Downtown Stroll attracts a large crowd each year, so consider riding your bike or using public transportation. If you do need to drive, there are plenty of parking options including garage and metered parking.
