We first met Paul Cauthen back in 2013 as a founding member of the Austin based country-rock band Sons of Fathers. With a knack for writing deeply personal songs and a baritone that sends shivers down the spine, we knew Cauthen was going to be a force in American country music scene for years to come. Now with a new solo album, Room 41, set for a September release, and an AWESOME video for his first single “Cocaine Country Dancing” Paul Cauthen is definitely firing on all cylinders.
In this new video for the single “Holy Ghost Fire,” Cauthen becomes an itinerant preacher fighting his own personal demons while trying to spread the word of God in a sinful world. The dark overtones, Old West scenery, and misplaced religious intensity create the perfect setting for Cauthen’s infectious brand of twisted country gospel.
“Holy Ghost Fire is the ignition of temptation in every person’s heart. This story portrays a preacher with a lustful mind. Everybody came together in the 110* California Desert to make some magic happen.” – Paul Cauthen
Directed and produced by Gus Black (Gary Clark Jr., Sheryl Crow, Goo Goo Dolls), the video was shot at Whitehorse Ranch Movie Set (Gold Nugget, Tumbleweed, Traded, Wolf Town) in Landers, CA with a cast of professional actors including Eric Edelstein from Drunk History. With two killer music videos under his belt, we’re excited to see what else Paul Cauthen has in store for us. Room 41 drops Sept. 6th via Lightning Rod Records.
