Fusing dark 80s stylings with modernflourishes, Urban Heat formed in 2019 with multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Horstmann enlisting Kevin Naquin and Paxel Foley to form a live show based around his analogsound design. Undeniably danceable, with melodic synths layered over heavy hitting bass lines, Urban Heat’s high-energy live showoffers a spark of hope for the future while wrapped in the malaise of the present and nostalgia of the past. Urban Heat has seen immense success in a short time, receiving recognition as “Best Band” by Austin Monthly Magazine, “Song of the Year” for “Have You Ever” at the 2023 Austin Music Awards , and frontman Horstmann hailed as having “starpower more present than any Austin musician in recent history” by SPIN Magazine.
