The Deer @ KUTX 05.19.15

Check out The Deer, a local band with a full, collaborative sound influenced by traditional Texas folk!

The group, originally called Grace Park & The Deer, was formed in 2012 by Grace Park (lead vocals/guitar/keys), Michael McLeod (electric/acoustic guitar),  Jesse Dalton (upright bass), and Alan Ekert (percussion/backup vocals). Their debut album, An Argument for Observation, was also released that year, and featured more than 20 local musicians. However, in 2013 Grace Park & The Deer simply became The Deer, and the group focused on shifting from a singer-songwriter format to a collective effort supported equally by each musician.

This new sound direction is apparent in their sophomore album On The Essence of the Indomitable Spirit, which was released in January of this year.

Catch The Deer this Sunday, May 24 at Uncle Billy’s Brewery, or listen to their live Studio 1A performance here at KUTX!
