My KUTX: Adrian Quesada

The Echocentrics are the June KUTX Artist Of The Month. Learn more here.

Proof that Austin’s Adrian Quesada doesn’t sleep: he’s played in Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, and Spanish Gold; he’s worked with GZA and Prince; and he’s produced everything from metal (the Sword) to Golden Dawn Arkestra’s pan-cosmic psychedelia. And this year, he’s released one of the best summer listening experiences: Echo Hotel, the second album from his solo project the Echocentrics. The album sounds like a spaghetti western soundtrack as done by Wu Tang Clan, and it’s anchored by guest vocal turns from Alex Maas (the Black Angels), James Petralli (White Denim), Natalia Clavier, Bill Callahan, and more.

The Echocentrics celebrate the new album with a set live in Studio 1A on Thursday, June 23 at 1 p.m., and they’re also at the Parish later that night (alongside Quesada’s other other band Ocote Soul Sounds). Quesada also makes a return appearance as our guest DJ, spinning an hour of his favorite songs and influences. Tune in Saturday, June 18 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime at the bottom of the page.
