Alex Maas and Christian Bland grew up in Houston, listening to the oldies station that played bands like The Zombies and The Beach Boys. Eventually, they moved to Austin and formed their own psychedelic rock band, The Black Angels. In 2008 they helped found Austin Psych Fest, as an outlet for psychedelic bands in town for SXSW.
Austin Psych Fest will celebrate its 7th year on May 2-4, 2014, spotlighting the best new vanguards of mind expanding music and hosting legendary artists from around the world.
