My KUTX: Kevin Morby

Any folkie with an acoustic guitar and lots of words will get comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, but last year, Kevin Morby earned the praise. Singing Saw was one of the best albums of the year, quietly spinning hallucinatory tales that felt much, much older than the time stamp would suggest. And a few weeks ago, Morby returned with another album. City Music is just as revelatory, but with a quasi-punk punch to it (it’s the New York to Saw‘s L.A.).

In honor of the new record, we’re running back Morby’s guest DJ set this week, which he originally taped last year. He’s influenced by plenty of masters, but he also has a finger on the next crop of talent. Listen to Kevin Morby’s My KUTX on Saturday, July 1 at 6 p.m. or anytime at the bottom of the page.
