Mobley

My KUTX // June 13, 2020

KUTX Artist of the Month alumni Mobley is a dynamic one-man band, building distorted pop songs on a bed of looped polyrhythms. He’s also a dynamic social justice advocate. A few weeks ago, he raised over $9,000 for organizations that support anti-racism and black empowerment. During his COVID-19 quarantine, Mobley also remotely worked with Jim Eno (Spoon), Shakey Graves, Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog, Sweet Spirit, Heart Bones), and more to create a visual album to benefit the Central Texas Food Bank.

This week on My KUTX, we’re spotlighting his advocacy and pointing listeners to these anti-racism resources compiled by #theshowmustbepaused founders Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang, as well as the tireless work of the Central Texas Food Bank. We’re also revisiting Mobley’s 2018 guest DJ set, an hour of songs that have influenced him as a musician, producer, performer, and listener. Hear Mobley’s My KUTX on Saturday, June 13 at 6 p.m. or anytime in the player above.
