My KUTX: Ryan Bingham

Ryan Bingham is a folk singer who’s actually lived the kinds of songs he sings. He started out as a bullrider on the rodeo circuit, and he’d entertain his fellow bullriders between gigs with an acoustic guitar. Bingham’s 2007 debut, Mescalito, earned him a ton of critical acclaim, as did “The Weary Kind.” He wrote that song for the film Crazy Heart and Bingham ended up winning an Oscar and a Grammy in 2010. Fear & Saturday Night, his fifth album, came out earlier this year.

Throughout his career, Bingham has shown a love for American music—blues, country, folk, and rock-and-roll–and his My KUTX playlist is a perfect blend of his styles. Listen below!
