My KUTX // April 3, 2021

It can be hard to make rock music sound new and fresh, but Tamar Aphek does. On her recently-released debut, All Bets Are Off, the Tel Aviv guitarist and singer combines DIY intensity with stadium sized riffs, all paired with her uniquely laconic voice. It’s the kind of psych-rock record that sounds great blasting out of a sweaty garage and a car cruising down the highway.

This week on My KUTX, Aphek is our guest DJ. Roxy Music’s art rock, Aphex Twin’s electronic madness, and Billie Holiday’s sweetness all speak to her as a musician and a fan. Hear Tamar Aphek’s My KUTX on Saturday, April 3 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime in the player above.
