My KUTX: The Zellner Brothers

David and Nathan Zellner are filmmakers who often turn their gaze on heady, multilayered subjects. Their Sundance-nominated film Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter tackles film obsession and the fictional realities we all construct. Damsel–starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska, out June 29–is a period Western that nonetheless feels very timely, exploring the sexual dynamics between “heroes” and “damsels.”

The Zellners are also avowed Austinites. KUTX Artist of the Month alumni the Octopus Project have scored several of their films, and the Zellners have directed a few of their music videos (peep Camp Mabry in this one) and concert visuals. This week on My KUTX, we’re turning the keys over to David and Nathan for an hour of music that’s inspired or soundtracked their films. Hear My KUTX on Saturday, June 16, 6 to 7 p.m. or anytime at the bottom of the page.
