My KUTX: X

There’s a visceral thrill to the legendary L.A. punk band X. With a name like that, you’d expect a certain darkness, but over the years, Exene Cervenka and John Doe have also smuggled in some unexpected sounds under the X: rockabilly, country, soul, even Ray Manzarek organ solos.

X is currently on tour celebrating 40 years of outlaw brilliance, and the band recently played in our Studio 1A. And this week on My KUTX, we’re excited to give the keys to the car to Cervenka and Doe. Their guest DJ set is just like their own music: heartfelt, heartbreaking, and wholly original. Tune in on Saturday, May 27 or listen anytime at the bottom of the page.
