African Children’s Choir @ KUTX 12.4.14

African Children’s Choir is celebrating their 30th year of making change!

Founded in 1984 in Uganda by Ray Barnett, the Choir is made up of children from some of Africa’s poorest communities. For the last thirty years, the Choir has traveled around the world showing the world the beauty, dignity and unlimited ability of the African Child. The Choir raises funds that currently support around 7,000 children in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Sudan, Nigeria, and Ghana, providing them with care and an education. The Choir has recorded songs for the motion picture soundtracks BelovedHotel Rwanda, and Blood Diamond. African Children’s Choir has also performed for George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Queen Elizabeth II.

The primary goal of the Choir is to raise awareness of the need of destitute and orphaned children in Africa and to raise funds for continued development and support of the African Children’s Choir Programs. The Choir’s international educational endeavour provides unique training for the children, who will return to their homelands with the tools necessary for bettering their future after each concert tour.

You can catch the African Children’s Choir on Thursday, December 4th at the Container Bar for ACC Rocks Rainey Street or you can stream them right here at KUTX!
