Austin based singer-songwriter Daisy O’Connor stopped by Studio 1A ahead of her album release show at the Cactus Cafe on Friday to play a few songs off her upcoming release MIXTAPE II. Inspired by some of her favorite artists Sufjan Stevens and Daniel Johnston, she recorded all of the songs analog onto 8-track cassette with the help of her collaborator Kyle Reed.
A staple of the Austin music scene since the release of her first album Lightchasers in 2017, she’s become known for her unique musical mixture of folk country-pop. Her next release combines some original songs including Cookies N Weed, one of KUTX’s songs of the day, as well as a collection of classic covers of songs from Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams and others.
