Formed in 2016 by lead singer/songwriter Nick Ehrnstein and drummer Erin Teasdale (both formerly of Austin band Good Talk), Housewarming first began as a stripped-down vessel for Ehrnstein’s folky, melodic solo material. Finding themselves drawn to a louder sound, the duo added Nick’s brother, Sam Ehrnstein on bass and later, guitarist and former bandmate Jake Lauterstein (Popper Burns, Good Talk, Slaughterstein) to round out a new, heavier presence.
Combining the delicate, folk-tinged sensibilities of Ehrnstein’s songwriting with growling, guitar-driven indie rock, Housewarming’s lyrics trace the familiar imagery of youth and nostalgia, drawing a portrait of where they’ve been – and where they’re headed.
The band’s first official release, EP “Sasha” – named for a cat the Ehrnstein brothers had as kids – is out December 2nd.
