John Doe helped revolutionize the first wave of the L.A. punk scene along with his band, X, in the 1970’s. Their work helped put the L.A. scene on the map on both coasts, and influenced the world of music around them. On his own, John Doe is a songwriter, a poet, an actor and most recently an author. Whatever he touches, there is a raw and true artistic personality to it. Furthermore, he never seems to stop working and creating. In fact, he just released a new record, The Westerner, and a co-written book, Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk, this past April.
John just finished a solid tour run here in Austin over the weekend. In case you missed his show or book reading, then check out the links below to hear his visit to Studio 1A.
