Löwin 6.13.16

“Sad songs, mad songs, loud songs, soft songs.” Austin-band Löwin manages to make ’em all. Named after the german word for lioness, Löwin combines the intensity of hard rock with the softness of Sara Houser’s vocal stylings, finding a balance within the duality. Löwin is what happens when the softness Cat Powers meets the ferocity of Feral Future.

Frontwoman Sara Houser previously shared a stage with the members of Otis the Destroyer in an old college project called The Couch. After a split in 2013, Löwin was born. Shortly after their formation, the group’s memorable live performances landed them a spot as Deli Magazine’s 2014 Artist of a Year before they had even released their first EP! A year later came debut EP Royal Jelly featuring personal favorite “Move it Football Head!” –  a tale of longing for the unobtainable disguised in a comical nod to 90s Nickelodeon cartoon Hey Arnold.  Löwin gears up for summer with the release of newest single “Say Say.” The new track is accompanied by a haunting music video and a feature in She Shreds Magazine.

Come out to see Löwin this Saturday’s (July 18) at 2nd Street Soundcheck alongside old friends Otis the Destroyer. The event is free festival featuring over two dozen local artists, food and drinks from Austin restaurants, art vendors, and in-store performances! Kickoff the weekend early with Löwin’s Studio1A performance down below.
