Marcia Ball Band 3.27.19

We’d like to take a moment to thank Marcia Ball’s car for choosing to break down in Austin while moving her to San Francisco in 1970. Without that serendipitous breakdown, the Austin music scene might have missed out on one of its most important voices. And we think it’s safe to say that after 50 years, 10 Blues Music Awards, 10 living Blues Awards, 5 Grammy Award nominations, being inducted into the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame and Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, and named Texas State Musician of the Year in 2018, it’s safe to say that Marcia is comfortable calling  Austin home.

Marcia brought her band to Studio 1A this week to let us know about her 70th birthday party at Antone’s night club. The 3-day shindig starts Friday, March 29 and runs all the way through Sunday, March 31 and will feature three musical events benefitting two nonprofits near and dear to Marcia’s heart: HOME and HAAM (Health Alliance for Austin Musicians).
