KUTX artist of the month Night Drive is on the cutting edge of synth-pop; they’re heartfelt, energetic and downright spectacular. Formed in 2013 by Brandon Duhon and Rodney Connell, the pair have been touring and honing their craft ever since. The boys might live in separate cities, Austin and Houston, but this physical distance has only helped to create a focused songwriting process that is a testament to their organic meeting of minds. The result is a vibrant synth-pop with profound lyrics and infectious melodies. This month sees the much anticipated release of their debut, self-titled album. Inspired by sci-fi landscapes and musical greats like Brian Eno, the album is rich with atmospheric dance tracks and abstract emotion. Songs like “Rise and Fall” feature a consistent, lively beat overlaid with sweetly melodic vocals, while “Easy to Lie” has a smoother, darker tone. The boys brought their spirited sounds to Studio 1A ahead of their album release show this Friday at Cheer Up Charlie’s, check it out below!
