The Dan Ryan is a wonderfully mystical musical experience that is currently Austin-based. Named after both the expressway and a nature preserve in Chicago (hometown of frontman, Nathan Dixey), the group balances this type of contrast and blend into their own untraditional lineup of guitar, bass, drums, synthesizers, and trombone. Their style definitely holds an Americana heart, but one that is perhaps touched by Middle Eastern influences and synthesized transformations, which creates a beautiful starry-skied sound. After relocating from Kansas, The Dan Ryan has recently released their first record, The Dan Ryan LP on Cosmic Dreamer Music. The album stitches together a dreamy and calming world, that is definitely worth a front-to-back listen.
