Americana band Western Youth first formed in 2011, when singer/songwriters Taylor Williams and Matthew Gregg began writing songs together in Austin. They were joined shortly after by drummer Brian Bowe and the trio released their first EP “Leaving the Station” in 2013. Since then, they’ve been regulars on the Austin club circuit leading to an unofficial show at South by Southwest in an eclectic backyard venue, where they met local singer/songwriter favorite Graham Weber. In 2017, Weber asked the guys to back him up on an EP he was recording. Weber soon after joined the band, which now includes Sam Powell on keys and bassist Sean Spiller.

Frontman Taylor Williams writes songs that strike squarely at the intersection of tuneful country and soulful rock ’n’ roll. Their music is both robust and rustic with a special swagger to it. Western Youth won a spot in the official 2018 SXSW lineup, earning the band some much-deserved recognition and attention and setting the stage for the release of the band’s first full-length, self-titled is out September 21st with a release show at Spiderhouse Ballroom that evening.
