Austin’s own White Ghost Shivers are quite impossible to define, though their personal description on their site just about does it best: “Imagine a smorgasbord of Cab Calloway, circus sideshow, KISS, cabaret, Hee Haw and Robert Johnson served up at Andy Kaufman’s bat-mitzvah.” The eclectic eight-piece band plays a unique brand of music inspired by early jazz, vaudeville, ragtime, western swing, hillbilly, and jugband, and their crazy, animated live shows are not to be missed. They have won a variety of awards at the Austin Music Awards, including the aptly-named “Best None of the Above”. Coming up is their 11th Annual White Ghost Shivers Halloween Ball, which will feature Clyde and Clem’s Whiskey Business, Mr. Lewis and His Funeral Five, and DJ Dennis Campa, located at Spider House Ballroom.
These guys are a guaranteed good time, so you’ll definitely want to check out their live performance in our studio from this past week. Take a listen right here!
